Lone Star Opts for the SIP Standard
Dallas, TX (8/20/14) Lone Star Analysis, internationally recognized business and technology decision support, modeling, and simulation, and a trusted provider of advisory services that address highly complex client issues announces its support of the Stochastic Information Packet (SIP) standard. The Company believes SIPs are important to 21st century analysis, information and decision making. While SIP is unfamiliar to some potential users, Lone Star has produced a white paper describing in detail this standard and its benefits.
“We are excited about the SIP standard, and the growing support for Probability Management, the non-profit which sponsors it. SIPs have powerful attributes: Easy to use, simple to audit, free and open, used by a vibrant user group, and accommodating a range of data types,” said Steve Roemerman, CEO of Lone Star Analysis.
The SIP standard is open, neutral, and not tied to any particular format or firm. It is sponsored by Probability Management (PM), a non-profit. PM manages the standard as a free, open standard. There is no fee or license to use SIPs, and the standard is freely available at www.probabilitymanagement.org.
Probability Management is hosting two innovations, the Stochastic Information Packet (SIP™) and easy to use, open source tools, making probabilistic math as easy as arithmetic. SIPs and SIPMath™ are being used by government agencies in the U.S. and Canada, and by major corporations, such as Chevron, Lockheed Martin, Wells Fargo, and others. The standard is gaining momentum.
“Probability Management is serious about setting truly open standards for data sharing. We are pleased we can help support that goal, which matters for Big Data, for Decision Science, and for many other fields,” Roemerman said.
A white paper titled “Why Lone Star Chose the SIP Standard” is available on Lone Star’s website.
